We are located just north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are approximately 25 miles north of the Milwaukee International airport (MKE) and about 95 miles north of the Chicago, Illinois O'Hare airport (ORD).
We feed our dogs American Natural Premium. If that is not easily accessible, we also recommend Fromm
Finley is just under 60 pounds, and Totte is around 70 pounds. We expect these puppies to be about the same size as their parents.
Yes, we have shipped puppies before. If you'd like to ship a puppy, please let us know and we can work with you to do so.
Golden retrievers do shed and will require some coat maintenance. Brushing can help with the shedding. We recommend a rake brush to help remove the dead undercoat.
Of course! We love having people who are interested in buying a dog from us to meet the parents and the puppies.
We test our dog's hips and elbows and do certain DNA testing. Each of the dogs before breeding also is checked over to make sure that they are healthy and capable of having a litter before we breed. Our imported dogs have passed all required European testing for shows and breeding as well.
The puppies are raised in our home and interact with people almost constantly. From day one, they are handled daily, weighed, have their temperature taken, nails trimmed, and get their feet and ears handled. As they develop, they are given the opportunity to explore more areas of the house and outside (weather permitting) and are introduced to a crate and our other dogs once it is safe to do so.
Our first golden retriever died suddenly from cancer when she was seven. After that, we started researching and were shocked to find out that over 60 percent of golden retrievers in America will get cancer. In Europe, that number is less than 30 percent. We decided then to only get and breed dogs that would have lower risks of getting cancer to do what we could to try to ensure that our dogs will be around for a long time. We've had a long standing relationship with the Karvin Kennels (we imported our first dog from them in the early 2000s) and we love their lines and the temperaments of each of their dogs we've met.
We want our dogs to be family companions, first and foremost. What this looks like for us is a dog that is eager and willing to do anything (running, hiking, playing fetch, running errands, etc.) with anyone, but does not NEED to do any of those things to be fulfilled and able to relax in the house. We expect our dogs to be able to snooze around the house all day without getting into trouble and not be obsessive over balls or toys and yet eager and excited to go out and do everything with us.
